Wedding Fairs
Most couples looking for a Photographer for their Wedding Day would naturally assume that the best place to look for one would be at a Wedding Fair.
A couple of things to bear in mind with this is that many of the Fair Venues will take the easy way out and use the same wedding supply companies every year (you may have noticed this if have already attend a few Fairs in the same area)
This means your choice for Wedding Dress suppliers, Cakes, Photographers etc is limited. Most Fairs also restrict the amount of the suppliers to Three of Four of the same type.
We would always you advise don’t just look at Wedding Fairs for your Photographer, Check for internet websites, look for comments from previous happy customers.
There will be hundreds of Wedding Photographers in your area not just the three or Four you see at Wedding Fairs.
That said the good points of Wedding Fairs is they can give you ideas for your big day that you may not have thought of.
Professional or Amateur Photographer?
Should I go for an expensive Professional Photographer or should I let my friends dad take the photographs? This is a question many couples will ask themselves.
It’s nice to think that you could save a few pounds on your wedding bill by getting a friend or relative to take the photographs on your wedding day after all nearly everyone these days has a digital camera. You’ve spend hundreds of pounds on the venue, cake, flowers etc and this is a chance to spend more money on something else?
Before deciding on the friend, relative option here are a few things to consider:
A Professional Photographer takes photographs for a living, they have to be good. Part of their job is to plan which type of photographs you require and organise the guests in the best possible way to get great pictures.
A friend of relative is likely to be engrossed in the wedding itself and can miss crucial natural photos that a professional would have captured.
I have been to some wedding were there is no photographer and the couple have relied on the guests supplying the photos of their big day.
After seeing the couple a few months later and asked to see some of the images I was informed that so & so hasn’t emailed them to us yet, I felt so sorry for them as I know if they are emailing them the quality is going to be low and will not enlarge much more than 7″ x 5″ This was their Big Day.
I cannot express enough (yes I am bias of course) don’t scrimp on your Wedding Photographs, they capture your day recording the venue, ceremony, guests and your dream.
Get a professional, they are not that expensive if you consider how much you have spent on your dress, venue, rings etc.
They can also supply you with a album/photobook to keep your memories in, How long will a dvd, cd disc last?
